Kate Lilly is a self-taught painter living and working in Knightdale, NC. Their practice includes trial and error, making a mess, and "I'll know It when I see It." Kate is creatively driven by their opposing desires to be both Known and Mysterious. They believe that compelling art is about conflict. By balancing thematically dark images with a bright and and exciting palette, Kate centers conflict throughout their body of work. Kate is inspired by Human Hands (form and function), Solitude, Indulgence, Purity, Helplessness, Roadkill, Man vs Nature, and the United States Highway System.
