This piece was inspired by Prince’s enduring sense of style, as well as his ineffable musicality. I loved all of his work, but I have a special appreciation for his funk-inspired later album “Musicology”. The composition of this piece was influenced by the cover of that album, with bold colors and lines evoked by listening to his music.

Alison Charchar is an artist that explores abstract and figurative forms in bold color. She studied painting at Pratt Institute and has worked as an artist and art therapist for over 20 years. She is inspired by moments of beauty and connection between people, animals and nature. She works in many different media, but mainly in oil or acrylic paint. She often sells her artwork in art shows and art markets around Raleigh and Wake Forest, and her work is featured in Art and Antiques on Main shop at 10 N. Main St. in Wendell, NC.
